From Richborough (Porto Rutupiae), where the Claudian invasion began, we will follow the Roman army from the landing to their gradual occupation of Pritain (a Roman scribe is said to have got the name wrong). We shall follow their footsteps across the South and on up North to the Stane Gate.

We will walk along a section of the wall, visiting the forts of Housteads and Vindolanda. See how the Roman postal system worked at Vindolanda where you can read the words of people who died nearly two thousand years ago.
